How to build

We make plural nouns in English by adding -s to most singular nouns.

• girl + -s → girls

• exams

• dogs

If a singular noun ends with -sh, -ch, -s, -x, or -z, then add -es.

• bush + -es → bushes

• guesses

• boxes

If the singular noun ends with a consonant and then -y, then omit -y and add -ies.

• baby → bab- + -ies → babies

• ladies

• parties
