My name is Julia Barbee. My clothing line
is Frocky Jack Morgan. On behalf of Expert
Village this is a tutorial on recycling and
deconstructing old clothes. So, this is a
good example of a one of a kind recycled wedding
dress from my line, Frocky Jack Morgan. And,
I dyed the dress with tea, I tore apart most
of it; it had a neckline, it had long sleeves,
things like that, so, I tore all of that away.
You can see some of the residue along here
from the lacework. I added straps to it, just
to create a more beautiful silhouette. And,
some other things that we've talked about
are embellishings, so I added a lot of hand
beadwork along the neckline, and I tore these
flowers off of another dress and applied those
to this one. I did some beading, I did some
rhinestones; things like that, and just really
created a sculptural wedding dress that's
one of a kind. No one else is ever going to
find this, and I think that's really important
in creating handmade pieces. You know that
it's one of a kind; it's not anything anyone
else is going to walk down the aisle in.
