Commuting with public transport

Temat: Życie codzienne

An average Polish family has two cars. As a result, Polish roads are always very crowded. The worst time to travel in Poland is about 7 o'clock. Most offices open at 8 a.m. and lessons also start at 8 so many adults and children leave their homes about 7. Some people go to work on foot but it is often impossible in big cities like Warsaw or Katowice. Many city dwellers decide to travel by bus which is quite cheap. However, travelling by bus is not comfortable. Buses are often packed with people and there are too few seats so most travelers have to stand. Ticket inspectors check every bus about three times every day. They catch travelers without tickets. Unfortunately, it happens quite often. Tram is also popular. Buses and trams are often stuck in the traffic jam. So instead 10 minutes travelers travel for an hour. In Warsaw going to work can take even two hours if you have bad luck. Traffic jam is usually worse on Monday and Friday. There are few people who choose a bike. It is ecological and healthy but in Poland there aren't many roads for bicycles. Sometimes riding a bike can be dangerous because other drivers don't respect the law and drive too fast. In some cities there is the underground which is the fastest way of traveling. It is cheap but in the morning there are too many people so it is difficult to get in. Many Polish people try to be ecological. Traveling to work with other workers became popular. It saves money, petrol and you can spend time talking with other travelers instead of getting angry because of the traffic.
