President against tightening abortion law

President Bronislaw Komorowski said Monday he sees no need to further toughen Poland's laws on abortion.
His comments came after deputies on Friday sent a draft bill that aims to completely ban abortion to the committee stage.
The bill was submitted by anti-abortion campaigners who collected over 450,000 signatures from citizens supporting their project.
A bill passed by the Polish parliament has to be signed by the president in order to come into force.
Deputies voted against a motion by the leftwing Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) opposition party to throw out the bill at first reading.
