Chiles finds watching himself on TV 'repellent'

Poziom:

Temat: Sztuka i rozrywka

4 January 2011 Daybreak presenter Adrian Chiles has said he finds the sight of himself on TV "repellent" but forced himself to watch in a bid to boost ratings. The show hit a rocky start when it was launched in September but recently drew a million viewers for the first time. He said co-presenter Christine Bleakley persuaded him to watch the show over dinner one night to see if they could spot any obvious mistakes. Chiles told the Radio Times: "I find the sight of myself repellent." "I still don't like to look at myself in the monitor. I literally can't bear the sight of myself," he said. Chiles told the magazine that previous to watching a Daybreak episode, he had only watched about 20 minutes of himself on TV during a career that has lasted over 20 years. The presenter said he had not looked forward to watching the show with his co-host. "I'd have less dreaded two hours with the dentist that evening," he said. Daybreak, which replaced GMTV, saw its audience dip as low as 500,000 at one stage last year although it has since risen, achieving 800,000 on 20 December. Bleakley and Chiles used to present the BBC's One Show together before they both left for ITV. Source: BBC News (bbc.co.uk/news)
