Tusk: Infrastructure Minister Won’t Be Dismissed Re Rail Chaos

December 20, 2010 Poland's Infrastructure Minister Cezary Grabarczyk will not be dismissed because of chaos that ensued in Polish railways following heavy snows and low temperatures, PM Donald Tusk told reporters on Friday. Grabarczyk is expected to make personnel decisions concerning those responsible for the situation, Tusk added. Left-wing opposition party SLD submitted a motion for a vote of no-confidence against Minister Grabarczyk in relation with the recent chaos in rail traffic, problems with road construction and the situation of the Polish post office. While speaking in Parliament, Garbarczyk apologized for the recent problems. He also assured next year his ministry will work on strengthening of railway transport office UTK so that it has a real supervision over the market, as it is the case with the energy or telecom markets.
