Polish Leaders Deeply Concerned About Situation in Belarus

December 22, 2010 President Bronislaw Komorowski met yesterday with Foreign Affairs Minister Radoslaw Sikorski to discuss the situation in Belarus following Sunday presidential elections, head of presidential press office Joanna Trzaska-Wieczorek told PAP. Prime Minister Donald Tusk called, at a press briefing, recent developments in the country as "unacceptable," referring to numerous cases of brutal violence against government opponents. Police and security forces in Belarus battled and arrested hundreds of opposition activists who protested against the result of the country's presidential election showing Belarus' President Alexander Lukashenko winning a fourth term. President Lukashenko has lost the chance he got from the EU and from Poland to change the situation in his country, Tusk said. Source: The Warsaw Voice
