4 January 2011 High-profile actors and celebrities have used Twitter to boost the search for a missing 14-year girl from London. Stephen Fry and former Prime Minister Gordon Brown's wife Sarah were among those who have publicised the campaign for information about Serena Beakhurst. They posted links to appeals to trace the teenager who was last seen leaving her home in Tulse Hill, south London. Police said she vanished after catching a bus to attend a beauty course in Tooting on 15 December. Footballer Rio Ferdinand, actor and writer Simon Pegg and Little Britain's Matt Lucas have also backed the appeal to find the teenager. Reported sightings. More than 2,500 people have also joined a Facebook group urging Serena to contact her family and friends. Serena, who also uses the surname Dennis, failed to return home after catching a bus from Herne Hill station. The Metropolitan Police said there had been a couple of reported sightings of the teenager over the Christmas period and that they would be speaking to her friends again this week. Det Supt John Corrigan said: "I welcome the support from all of her friends and family who have created the Facebook and Twitter campaign to trace her and assist the investigation. "We will continue to do everything we can in support of this campaign and act upon information that we receive from the public." Serena was described as being of mixed race, slim, 5ft 3in (160 cm) tall and with shoulder-length hair. She was wearing a black leather jacket with a gold zipper when she was last seen.
