The legend of goldfish

Once upon a time in the valley of the rising sun all people were very upset. A lot of rain had fallen and ruined their rice harvest. The people were worried that they would be hungry. One night, a little girl called Cherry Bloom had a strange dream. Next morning, she did precisely what she heard in the dream: she wrote a letter to the king who lived far away, in a castle on the banks of the same river, telling him what had happened to the harvest. The dream told her paint one of her pet fish gold to make it look more attractive, tie the letter to it, and place it in the river. A fisherman found the golden fish, and gave it to the king as a present. The king read the letter, and sent rice to the hungry people. Cherry Bloom was so grateful that she sent another gold-painted fish to the king; and that is how the first goldfish was born!
