J.K. Rowling is my favourite author. Millions of people read the "Harry Potter" books and watched the films. She's very successful but her personal life is very private. She writes mystery stories and she's a woman of mystery. Joanne Rowling was born on 31st July 1965. She has been a writer from a young age - she was only six! Her first story was called 'Robbit'. Joanne was a student of French at university and she was an English teacher in Portugal in 1992. But she has always been a writer. Harry Potter was "born" on a train journey from Manchester to London in 1990. For four years the story has been on pieces of paper. In 1994, Joanne was unemployed in Edinburgh with a baby daughter. Her favourite place to write was in a cafe, when her baby was asleep. It was a difficult time. In 1995, the first book was completed. It was "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone". In 1995, Joanne Rowling was an unknown writer with a new book. In 2007, the seventh Harry Potter book was complete. J.K. Rowling was an international famous author - and a multi-millionare.
