Famous English fog

For a large number of Londoners Christmas in 1952 was not happy - many families were plunged in grief after the loss of a loved ones. In December 1952, at various respiratory ailments, died almost 12 thousand inhabitants of the English capital! There was no effect of a mysterious bacterium or virus, but due to the deadly smog, continued for five days in the city. But why no action was taken preventive and death had to suffer so many people in London?

It all started in early December, when a thick fog enveloped London. This atmospheric phenomenon does not surprise or concern aroused among the inhabitants of the English capital, accustomed to vague, December days. This time, however, the mist brought with it heavy snow and significant cooling, which could be signs of residents in London. The logical consequence of the temperature was increased coal burning in homes, which in turn resulted in contamination of air and pulverized coal gas. Additionally, the majority of burned coal was very poor quality, resulting in an increase influx of harmful substances into the atmosphere. To this came the smoke from factories and exhaust fumes from cars.
