How to Be an A+ Student in School, Part 1

Poziom:

Temat: Edukacja

Are you jealous of the class "know-it-all" and want to show them that they aren't the only smart one in the classroom? Well, here are some ideas on how to get those excellent grades! Steps: 1. Don't procrastinate. 2. When you do your homework, you usually want to finish it really quickly. But when you put it off until the last minute you find yourself wishing you would have done it earlier. So before you start procrastinating follow these simple steps and it will help you to get homework done efficiently! 3. Make a list of what you need to do when you get home. 4. Get a small snack and drink so you won't be tempted to get up to go to the kitchen. 5. Tell everyone not to bother you until you have completed your assignments. 6. Start with the hardest assignments first, that way you can use most of your energy to complete those, then you can breeze through the easy things afterward. 7. Take 10 minute breaks every 45 minutes you work. If you work constantly you won't work as well. 8. While your studying or working take a 5 minute break for every 30 minutes you work and go outside, by going outside and breathing deeply you get rid of all the stress and stuff that is going on in your mind, and then you can work better! 9. Set Goals: Remember there is happiness in getting straight A's and reaching to your dream day by day makes even more happy; it's the beginning of achieving your dreams. Here is a poem: "When we ponder the stars, when we reach for our dreams, we're never bothered by how far away they seem. Instead, we are inspired by the beauty of our vision. Dreams are like stars they are brilliant and permanent" Being Organized and Prepared. 1. Keep a school planner. Most schools give these to you for free. Your planner or diary should contain lots of info and space to write in it. If not, make sure you buy one that has space. Use it every day to record your assignments, homework and other relevant information like how long it took you to complete an assignment and perhaps what you learned from completing it. Every night before commencing homework, use this planner first to give you a sense of direction. Tick off items that you have completed at the end of the study session. 2. Do the homework early. If you have homework, do it after the snack and before you feel like watching TV, want to play on the computer, or have to help around the house. Your mind is at its best for homework straight after coming back from school. If you have a lot of homework to do, or a big project to work on, break it down into time slots that allow for regular breaks, such as every 30 minutes. If you can, get your homework done at lunch or break times at school. 3. Keep a list of contacts. Record phone numbers and emails of friends that can help you answer questions on your homework. Go through all your classes and find at least 2 people in each room that you can get help from. If provided, email your teachers with questions. This way, you do not have any excuse to skip a question on your homework, and if all else fails, then you can show your teacher that you really tried to get that answer. 4. Spend approximately 20 minutes reading your class notes, and reading the material from the book. This is crucial as books are usually written by subject experts and are more extensive and better prepared than the teacher's materials presented during class. 5. Reap the rewards. Once you have done all your homework, reward yourself! Finishing homework makes you feel like you have achieved something good. The reward doesn't have to be big, just something you feel like doing (for example, watching some TV, going out for a game in the park) or something special to eat (such as a chocolate bar). 6. Be aware of your body clock. The human body learns best at specific times (usually in the morning for most people). Be sure you save this time for studying and internalizing important class materials, and reserve the other time for less pensive activities as homework or socializing. Avoid studying when you are tired. In general, you should try to get at least 8 hours of sleep a night. After You Study. 1. Never stay up for an assignment. Instead, if you have two weeks to do it during the week days you could get rough bullet points and when it is the weekend you will have time you can neatly put it all together and the second week you could just read over your assignment and simply print it or add finishing touches and voila you are done. 2. Pack your book bag after you finish your homework. you'd be amazed at how many times you forget something when your rushing out in the morning. Pack everything you need for the next day, like, if you have technology pack your tech-notebook. 3. Get a good night's sleep. Get to bed at around 8-9 pm. Take a glass of water with you. Also, if possible, have a warm shower or bath before you go to bed because it is great for relaxing both mind and body. Do not take homework to bed unless it is a novel you really want to read! Make sure to get at least nine hours' sleep, more if possible, as young students need a lot of sleep. originated by: Anonymous, Sondra C, Dave Crosby, Nicole Willson Source: www.wikihow.com
